PEACE DALE - The Contemporary Theater Company will present a free reading of "The Lion in Winter" by James Goldman on Jan. 27 at 6:30 p.m. at the Peace Dale Library.

"The Lion in Winter" is the story of Henry II, King of England, as he struggles to organize his realm before his death. Enter the formidable exiled Queen of England, Eleanor of Aquitaine, whose own political ambitions and prowess threaten to unravel all Henry has built. On top of this, three princes seek to ensure their own survival and ascension to the throne while foreign influences further complicate matters for all.

Who will become King? Who will survive? In this medieval world where influence is fleeting, alliances are illusions, and love is only a tool, nothing is certain.

The dynamic characters of "The Lion in Winter" will be brought to life by an excellent voice cast in this free, public performance. Following the reading, audience members may discuss with the cast the story and characters and their feelings about the reading.

The reading features the voice talents of Corey Sickinger as Henry II; Emily Lonardo as Eleanor of Aquitaine; Shawn Fennell as Geoffery; Christopher Guilmette as John; Jaden Frankln as Philip Capet and Haley Ladd as Alais Capet. Directed and organized by Nevan Richard.

The Peace Dale Library is located at 1057 Kingstown Road, Peace Dale, R.I. More information is available at www.TheContemporaryTheater.com or by calling (401) 218-0282. The library is handicapped accessible. Admission is free.
